Summer Fellowships

These fellowships take place only over the summer.

Public Policy & International Affairs Junior Summer Institutes

PPIA Junior Summer Institutes (JSI) are intensive seven-week summer programs that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs and careers as policy professionals, public administrators and other leadership roles in public service. They are held at UC Berkeley, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon,Maryland – College Park and Princeton.

NSEP Boren Undergraduate Scholarship

Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East.

Rangel Summer Enrichment Program

The Rangel Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.

Critical Language Scholarship

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers fully-funded summer language institutes for U.S. university students and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

Foreign Language & Area Studies Grants

FLAS Grants assist graduate (Master's, PhD), professional students (JD, MD) and undergraduate students at George Washington University to further language study and area/international studies.

DAAD RISE Professional

The RISE Professional gives participants the opportunity to gain practical experience working in a German company for the summer.

ARIT Summer Fellowship for Intensive Turkish Language in Istanbul

The American Research Institute in Turkey will offer approximately 15 fellowships for advanced students for participation in the summer program in intensive advanced Turkish language at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. This intensive program offers the equivalent of one full academic year of study in Turkish at the college level.

DAAD University Summer Course Grant

The University Summer Course Grant provides scholarships to attend a broad range of 3- to 4-week summer language courses at German universities which focus mainly on German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany.
