Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom Undergraduate Research Fellowship

The Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom fosters dialogue on religious understanding and the separation of church and state, and serves as a center for academic collaboration in religion, peace studies, history, political science and other programs for scholars, students, educators and the public.

The Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom Undergraduate Research Fellowship gives two promising students in the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences the opportunity to engage in a well-defined research project on a topic related to religious freedom, separation of church and state, or the role of religion in civil society. The fellowship is open with regard to discipline. Students in all majors are encouraged to apply.

All research projects must be undertaken with ongoing input and direction from a faculty mentor. It is expected that the student and mentor will discuss their expectations regarding the time commitments of both parties, scope of research, and anticipated results (e.g., papers, presentations, performances, etc.) and arrive at a mutually agreeable understanding.
